See the Spring Bay National Park on Virgin Gorda, British Virgin Islands like you have never seen it. In this shot, I captured the Milky Way galactic core hovering over the rock formation at the Spring Bay beach. I am still in awe at the position of these rocks like its sister park next door, The Baths. But that is a story for another time. The image is a stack of 6 images at 30 seconds exposure, ISO 3200, f/2.8.

Beautiful photography, Drexel. The choice of foreground is excellent. How did you illuminate the rocks?
Thank you very much. I have found that with long exposure shots, the darkest objects are illuminated. This was a 30 seconds exposure shot capturing both sky and foreground at the same time. I suppose it is the same mechanism as our eyes; the longer we remain in a dark room the more light sources our eyes pick up and we are able to see…somewhat 😊. (That’s my thought)

Very nice composition! Excellent shot of the Milky Way and I love the way it rises above the rocks of Virgin Gorda. Spectacular by day anyhow but even more magical at night!
