Meet the Dumbbell Nebula (M27), a planetary nebula located in the constellation Vulpecula (The Fox). This beauty sits seemingly in the middle of nowhere surrounded by a sea of stars. It is located some 1,200 light years away from earth. An interesting fun fact about the Dumbbell Nebula: it consists of gas that has been emitted from its hot central star (zoom in to see this star at the center). This is another target worth revisiting soon at a much closer magnification. In the meantime, look up and experience an amazing universe!
