This visitor to our inner solar system is creating quite a stir. Comet Lemmon discovered in images captured by the Mount Lemmon Survey on 3 January 2025. It has an orbit period of 1,350 years and is expected to make its closest approach to Earth on 21 October 2025, where it may be visible to the unaided eyes. Lemmon is currently a bright comet with an impressive tail and itβs getting brighter daily.
Night skies enthusiasts are in luck as Lemmon can be seen through binoculars or a small telescope π. Stay tuned for updates on the progress of this beauty. For those in the BVI who are interested in a viewing, or even capturing your own images, just send me a note at drexel_g@yahoo.com. In the meantime, remember to look up and experience an amazing Universe!

Beautiful! Love the colour, trail. and frame composition. Comets are an amazing sight to experience.
Thank you ππΎ. You are absolutely right. Last year about this time, comet Tsuchinshan was absolutely amazing to the naked eyes as well as to image (https://drexelglasgowastrophotography.blog/2024/10/18/the-rise-and-fall-of-tsuchinshan/).
I am hoping that this one can put a show next week too π€πΎ
Thank you ππΎ
Brilliant! (the bright light comet). My earlier comment, “impressive”, was my response to the big dome-building.
Thank you kindly ππΎπ
impressive!
Nice!
Comets, (especially “naked” eye ones) are always amazingly impressive! ππ―π
Impressive as always!
